One Huge Regret?
By Colin  Corcoran: Copywriter - Job upon graduation Fallon, Brainco Graduate

Brainco is where the right side (the creative part) of your brain will swell up all meningitis-like. Where you'll begin to start seeing the world differently - through the funhouse mirror if you will.

However, I regret Brainco.

That is, I regret not coming here sooner. I heard students use to have to sit in lawn chairs. I missed out on that. I'm told the school once won the ad league-bowling tournament. I wasn't part of that. I wasted four years doing the bachelor's degree thing. And what awaited me after graduation? The spreadsheet thing. And the TPS report thing. Things I didn't like. Things I didn't want to be doing for the rest of my life. Maybe you're doing the TPS reports right now. Or maybe you've been doing them for the last 20 years. Maybe you too are thinking it's time to tap into your creative side. Try tapping into Brainco.

Why Brainco? Here's one reason: Some ad schools will tell you that a year of study is enough. Some will claim you need a master's degree. Dirty fibbers. If you come out with a great portfolio, I'm not really sure you even need a high school diploma to land a killer creative job. But you do need resolve. I'm not talking about the carpet cleaner (although it is a cool product to do ads for). I'm talking about a work ethic only the mid-west can instill in you: The Brainco work ethic. It's that ethic that helped our school capture a Gold ONE SHOW pencil last year. And it's why we took home more awards than that other school by a 7-1 margin at the 2002 Minneapolis Show.

It's why I am where I am today.

Keep another thing in mind when choosing schools: Accounting has it's big 5…er…4. Advertising has its big 4 too. New York. San Francisco. London. And Minneapolis. You can afford to live in Minneapolis - and eat too. Like those other cities, Minneapolis harbors some of the best agencies, the best creatives and it boasts a terrific art scene. What about the "harsh" winters, you ask? Don't worry, Brainco allows you to create ads indoors. (When you're done, you and your partner can go sledding.)

In closing, I don't want to take up another minute of your time. Right now you've got the future to think about. I can only hope you find it here.
